JOB TITLE: Counselor
LOCATION: Logan, WV
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Masters of Education in Mental Health Counseling
CERTIFICATION: National Certified Counselor
JOB DUTIES: My job duties include managing a caseload of clients who are diagnosed with opioid use disorder. This includes intake, administering adult diagnostic assessments, collaborating with clients to create an individualized service plan, providing individual counseling on a bi-weekly basis and group counseling as needed.
WHY I DO THIS: I enjoy doing what I do because it is my service to the community. I am a firm believer that we should all serve in some capacity. And to be able to help others in a service-oriented manner such as counseling is the way that I can help improve the community in which my children are growing up. I also appreciate the process of change and being a part of those moments in a client’s life.
WORKING AT OVP/AHS: I enjoy working at AHS due to the pace of the environment. Client care is priority number one. And as the counselor, I have the ability to direct care for the client as needed. Also, my co-workers have become like a family to me and we are all very supportive of each other, both professionally and personally.
WHAT I ENJOY OUTSIDE OF WORK: I enjoy quality time with my family. I enjoy spending time with my children, gardening and fishing. I also enjoy participating in my children’s school related functions and extracurricular activities.
